Hi everyone,

I'm Carrie Hanson, the face behind Gotcha Covered Quilting.

First and foremost I'm a mom to 3 wonderful kids (22-year-old Katelyn, 18-year-old Brody, and 14-year-old Ally).  They are incredibly wonderful and make me proud every day.  Bosley (Miniature Schnauzer) and Sofie (Golden Retriever) also grace our household with their sweetness and goofy personalities.

Along with quilting, I do some dog walking, participate in triathlons, find peace at the beach, and lose myself in good books.

I was raised in an environment of crafting, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, and cross stitch.  It seemed a natural transition to quilting when I started back in 1998.  That first tulip applique quilt quickly turned into an obsession and fabric addiction.  After hand quilting my first few quilts, I realized I'd have to make the jump into machine quilting because I simply couldn't finish the quilts fast enough otherwise.

Boy am I glad I made that jump.  Machine quilting is meditative in a way…the feel of the fabric under my hands, the rhythmic movement of the quilt as I guide it to create the finishing touch, and the hum of the machine.  For me, quilting is a combination of pure passion, creativity, and freedom.  I truly love picking fabrics, arranging colors and patterns, piecing quilt tops, and then providing the finishing touches with machine quilting.
